Nightmare painting. Photoshop. After painting it, I had the unsettling feeling that I'd seen this somewhere else. I realized that my nightmare remixed the cover of Heretics Of Dune. It's been at least three years since I seen this book, but I'm amazed how much detail I was able to recall and reproduce -- without realizing that I'd seen this before. I was particularly surprised by how I recombined the characters, grafting the human's uplifted arms onto the creature.

When I saw the "Independence Day" movie in '96, I was terribly disappointed that Portland (PDX) didn't get blown to bits, so I just had to take matters into my own hands.

The space ship and text were built with Caligari TruSpace2, the rest of the manip was done with Photoshop 3 on a Sun SS5.

Sure enough two years later, I was working in the silver building engulfed in the explosion, working across the street from the city jail, which is the building getting blasted. From our 9th floor cube farm, we could watch the prisoners playing basketball, lifting weights and otherwise appearing to have a good time in their fabulous gym right across from us. Needless to say, our morale was low.
